Following thirteen years in HM Customs & Excise Investigation Division,George McKillop left to further his career in the private sector. He is now Chief Executive Officer at Haymarket Risk Management Limited, a City-of-London based security, risk management and investigation consultancy, which he founded in the 1990’s.
Mr McKillop has personally managed the covert and overt phases of major fraud investigations for blue chip clients in UK, mainland Europe, the Far East,Australia, North and South America, and Africa. These assignments have included investigations into high-value collusive procurement fraud and, working with dedicated forensic Quantity Surveyors, investigations into construction and contract fraud.
A recognized expert with an established track record in international asset tracing, Mr McKillop has been responsible for tracking tens of millions of pounds / dollars worth of assets, misappropriated from clients in UK and elsewhere.
In carrying out risk analysis on behalf of corporate clients, he has identified control and procedural weaknesses in a plethora of areas and his recommendations for control improvement have almost without exception, been accepted. In a number of cases, the detection techniques used during risk reviews have also led to the discovery of ongoing fraud.
Mr McKillop writes, lectures and commentates on TV and radio, in regards to fraud issues. He was a member of the Audit Commission External Advisory Group examining probity in the National Health Service, and his benchmark paper, “Best Practice in Business”, was subsequently incorporated in the Audit Commission’s final report.
